Protecting What We Love

The best anglers are the best stewards of the water. At SageHook, we believe that loving fishing means protecting our fisheries. We are actively committed to conservation through education, action, and advocacy.

Our Conservation Pillars

Education

We promote ethical angling through mandatory 'Catch, Photo, Release' workshops and extensive online resources designed to minimize our impact on New York's delicate ecosystems.

Action

We don't just talk; we roll up our sleeves. SageHook organizes quarterly shoreline cleanups and habitat restoration projects at local waterways including the Bronx River and Jamaica Bay.

Advocacy

We use our collective voice to support policies that ensure clean water and healthy fish populations, partnering with groups like the Gowanus Canal Conservancy to protect public access.

Success Story: Flushing Creek Cleanup

Our recent initiative at Flushing Creek proved that a small group of dedicated anglers can make a massive difference. Working alongside NYC Parks, our members reclaimed a vital stretch of shoreline.

"Being part of SageHook has taught me that my legacy as a fisherman isn't just the fish I catch, but the water I leave behind for my kids."
